Delicate and intriguing sound design - of familiar and enchantingly elusive household objects at work - is a foundation for lyrical melodies and haunting chord progressions. Rachel appears to have invented Hi-Fi Lo-Fi.
Favorite track: Ujjayi.
In early May, I started recording sounds of my daily life in confinement: washing my hands, sparrows fighting over seeds on the balcony, the stove-top espresso maker. Some of the sounds leant themselves to beat creation. I decided to play whatever I felt over those beats on my 8-string bass. And I ended up with an almost entirely improvized collection of slightly lo-fi chillness.
Special thanks to Nicolas Chaplais, Angela Sadberry, and Rich Brown for their unfailing support and encouragement. More special thanks to Rob Elrick for my amazing basses. Even more special thanks to Gary Willis for guidance and growth.
